Soon enough the flurry of activity in Chennai is going to come to a head, with the voting dates being just around the corner and the polling going-on fast approaching their pinnacle. Yes, the Tamil Nadu state is going to the elections and everyone, literally everyone and anyone, young or old, working or taking care of home and hearth, is caught in the flurry of anticipation that usually precedes the elections.
Which brings us to the question of how you, yes you, our dear reader are gearing up for the election dates ahead?
Pointing the finger for the right reason
Usually human nature dictates that when something goes awry fingers should be pointed at someone else other than us, isn’t it? Moreover, when it comes to taking responsibility and doing the right thing, the psychology is to cast off those responsibilities and look the other way. That’s the typical disposition we as a human race innately possess. However, there are certain moments and events that call upon us to change that very innate mindset and take action in response to the event ahead of us.
Somewhat akin to the election/ polling season that takes place in every state across India, the polling dates are a call upon us to come together and point our finger for the right reason- that of casting our vote!
We the citizens
As citizens of the country its our civil entitlement to come forth and cast our vote and in order to do that no work deadline, no college project and no traffic jam (in other words, no excuse) should stand in the way. Every vote counts and its better to think that every single vote that’s been cast works not just for the betterment of the state or the city but the very place we live and breathe in.
Think of this as the most opportune time for us to bring about the change that we want to see. This is why it’s important to give this date 100% importance, stop doing everything else and come out in droves to cast your votes. Even if it means taking a leave from work, leaving the house in a mess or scrambling to the polling booth after college hours, it’s necessary that we as responsible citizens take the time out for doing something which is our civic duty.
To go or not to go
If and when you start having doubts about whether or not you’ll be able to make enough time to get to the polling booth and cast your vote, do remember that if you don’t, you’ll be missing an opportunity to make your voice heard and worse still, you’ll be losing out the chance of making a difference. A big one!
Come forward all of you and Make it 100%
There are just a few days to go but the pledge for support #100percentEthicalVoting, #TN100percent began long back. In fact, there has been a fantastic response received from all corners of the state and it galvanised into a huge movement- one that saw people from all walks of life uniting for the cause of just one thing- #Makeit100percent. It is thought that over 1.6 crore citizens came forward to pledge their support towards the cause of casting a vote and for doing it the ethical way.
So now while the dates inch forward quickly enough, do make sure that you’re not just another statistical number among those who do not cast their vote at all. Remember, be Indian and come forward this day- it’ll be a step in the right direction–
For your Country,
Your City and
Last but not the least, for yourself!
Happy Voting!
