Oftentimes it’s a good idea to come out of the comfort zones we usually nestle ourselves in and take a good, hard look around. Not necessarily for stumbling across something new or obscure but simply because even routine everyday occurrences can take on a new fervent dimension when they encounter a different perspective— one that has been polished and cleansed of all the routine conditioning our minds get accustomed to.
Twists and turns- Something of a joyride
The location that we’ve picked for you this time is by no means routine, in fact might we add its adventurous in good measure too. Replete with a ghat road, a few moments of clenched teeth and magnificent views, the journey to reach this place will entail traversing 70 hair pin bends and finally getting to the ultimate destination—the hills.
Do remember, the place that we’ve zeroed down on is usually frequented by bikers, trekking enthusiasts and possibly those few who like timely doses of living life on the edge, so you might find yourself shaking your head in disbelief at the sound of tackling 70 hair pin bends.
Live a life that’s too good to be true
we’ve said it before and we’re saying it again, responsible living and conscientious pursuits are two concepts that must go hand-in-hand, hence, we must make practical choices that optimally reflect this thought—be it in our day to day existence or leisure activities. As a global citizen of the world, where we live, work and what we do in our spare time are manifestations of our thoughts and beliefs and this is the idea we at Ananda Habitat have made concrete, conscious efforts towards.
Within our Habitat you will find that sustainable property development, prolific bio-diversity, organic real estate layouts and value based investment propositions are not mere concepts but the sum and substance, the very embodiment of all that we do.
This is why month after month, we endeavour to showcase places and destinations, plants and flora, views and fact based updates that echo the Ananda Green Manthra ethos while concurrently elucidating on environment, hobby, wealth, investment and other sentient topics that we’re certain like-minded people will enjoy and benefit from.
As one of our existing customers says ‘’I was looking for the best location to construct an independent house that would satisfy all green criteria at affordable cost. My friends and I explored scores of land opportunities and offers around Chennai. Lucky was our day when we met the people of Ananda Green Manthra, a proposed gated community project with DTCP approval at Oragadam. The promoter along with his team members, extended great warmth and courtesy by taking us to the site and explaining the features and benefits of the location.
They answered all our questions and dispelled all doubts about the project. The moment we saw it, we were convinced about the quality aspects of the project and decided to make it our own. I could not imagine any other housing plots around Chennai that would have a congestion free, mix of many inter-connecting highways in proximity, enabling one to travel quickly in any direction out of town, I plan to build my own house because I see this as the optimal post retirement nest for enjoying a relaxed life with clean air, noise free, travel friendly scenario, etc.
We and scores of others including my sister in the USA have just completed the registration process. I can’t wait to retire now! Thanks a million to the friendly folks of Ananda Green Manthra for assisting me at every stage. I wish them all success.

Our Mantra
Ananda Green Manthra’s project, Ananda Habitat at Oragadam is a product of our collective ethos and while many of our patrons find the monetary potential a shining example, many others are drawn by the verdant 18 acre, organically preserved habitat providing a secured gated community opportunity right in the heart of ‘Chennai’s industrial growth corridor’ — Oragadam.
A trip to Kolli Hills
As you rev up your engine before heading down for a sojourn to Kolli Hills, do keep in mind that the journey is nearly about 7 hours or so from Chennai via the NH32 and the NH79 highways.
Situated on the scenic Eastern Ghats at an elevation of 1370 metres, Kolli Hills is mentioned in ancient Tamil narratives as well as in the Ramayana for its lush forest and luxuriant landscape. Moreover, the valiant King Ori and the folklore associated with his philanthropy as well as his skills as a sharpshooter are renowned and have even found mention in Sangam descriptions.
However aside from the folkloric tales, the viewpoint Seekurai is really beautiful as is the Selur viewpoint which has a government reserve forest within. The forests in Kolli Hills are renowned for local produce such as tea, jack fruits (must try) and pineapples as well as locally grown spice such as pepper and cardamom. The honey and coffee are very famous and most visitors like to carry back these fruits of the forests back home. It is thought that animals such as rabbits, bears and even wild dogs are spotted once in a while in the forests here.
Those of who like to unwind by the lakeside can enjoy a boat ride at Vasalurpattior pay their obeisance at the beautiful 12th century Arappalleeswarar Temple at Periakoviloor. The Agaya Gangai water falls, with the water source originating from the Aiyaru River, are another well-known tourist spot as the falls are located amidst scenic valley views and believed to cascade from a height of nearly 300 ft. To get to the falls one has to trudge down a thousands steps from the Arappalleeswarar Temple, but it’s worth the walk.
The Government Herbal Farm as well as the medicinal plants found on the hills are believed to be very potent and are being researched besides being highly sought after by locals as well as visitors coming to the hills.
